The Building Over Time

A look back at the building’s previous appearance and earlier uses.

The Bridge Skills Hub occupies 9 Bridge Place and has a long history of serving the people of Worksop.

For several decades, the site was home to the Co‑operative Society, providing retail and office space in the heart of Worksop’s town centre. The Marquis of Granby public house also occupied part of what is now The Bridge Skills Hub.

Following demolition and redevelopment in the late 1980s, part of the site later became a McDonald’s restaurant, and incorporated the Job Centre and toy retail store, Toymaster.

In subsequent years, the building saw further commercial use, including as a restaurant, before becoming vacant.

Today, the site has been transformed once again through regeneration and now operates as The Bridge Skills Hub, supporting education, skills and opportunity for the local community.

If you have any old photos of the building, we would love to see them and add them to our collection. Please email them to [email protected]
